Thanksgiving in Eau Claire

Nov 6, 2022

Thanksgiving is a day that has been celebrated throughout the U.S for over 400 years. It is a day where Americans gather with friends and family to eat delicious food and spend quality time together. It has become a great way to start the holiday season and give everyone an opportunity to reflect on what they are thankful for.

It began in 1621 when Plymouth’s colonists and the Wampanoag feasted, ran races, and did other activities for almost a week together. This resulted in a treaty being created between the two groups that lasted until 1675. When the U.S originally became an independent nation, it was left up to each state to decide whether to celebrate the holiday or not.  It was officially declared a holiday by president Lincoln durning the Civil War on October 3, 1863.

There are several events in Eau Claire that help to celebrate. Whether you are looking to make holiday crafts or eat delicious food, Eau Claire has the event for you.  Here are some of the events that the city has to offer.

  • If you are looking for a place to enjoy food and company, Saving Grace Lutheran Church is having a community Thanksgiving dinner.
