Spring is here and summer is right around the corner. With the warmer seasons coming up we wanted to highlight some of the activities that will be happening around Altoona and Eau Claire. These events are all within 20 minutes from Hillcrest Estates- some are only 2.5 miles from the community.

• Eau Claire Jazz Festival - An annual event that blends exceptional educational opportunities for jazz students. April 19-20th. Location: 239 Water St, Eau Claire, 5 miles from Hillcrest Estates

• Eau Claire Marathon: A family-friendly, beautiful course that supports the Eau Claire Community. Dates: 4/27/2024- 4/28/2024 Location: Downtown Eau Claire

• 5k Girls on The Run: A fun event for kids to participate in a triathlon. Dates: May 11th at 10am. Location: Oak Pavilion, Carson Park, 2.5 miles away from Hillcrest Estates 

• River Prairie Festival: A summer festival with live music, food vendors, and activities  for kids. Dates: May 11, 2024 Location: River Prairie Park, about 10 minutes from Hillcrest Estates.

• Blue Ox Music Festival: A  music experience that features over 35 artists spread across 3 days on three stages and on-site camping. Dates: June 27th-29th Location: The Pines Music Park 8.6 miles from Hillcrest Estates. 

• Country Jam USA - Good Vibes, Great Time! Country Jam USA is a 3 day festival with some of the biggest names in country music. Dates: July 18-24, Location: Country Jam USA Grounds, about 11 miles from Hillcrest Estates

•  Eau Claire Big Rig Truck Show - Join us for food, music, fun, and of course, TRUCKS! Dates: August 16-17 Location: Rock Falls Raceway, 14.3 miles from Hillcrest Estates

We are aware that with the summer months coming up, and school not being in session during those times, some of our residents will be looking for summer camps for their children. We wanted to highlight a few places that hold camps throughout the summer. Some offer day camps and some are overnight camps. You can click the name of each camp and it will take you to their website for more information. 

Summer camps available in Altoona and Eau Claire include:

• Camp Winnebago: A summer camp in Eau Claire offering activities such as swimming, hiking, and arts and crafts. Cost: varies based on program. Location: about 20 minutes from Hillcrest Estates.

• Camp Manitou: A YMCA camp in Altoona offering outdoor activities and team-building exercises. Cost: varies based on program. Location: about 10 minutes from Hillcrest Estates.

• Eau Claire YMCA: Offers summer day camps for kids with various activities such as sports, arts, and field trips. Location: Eau Claire YMCA, about 20 minutes from Hillcrest Estates.

• Eau Claire Children's Theatre: Offers summer camps and workshops for kids interested in theater. Location: Eau Claire Children's Theatre, about 15 minutes from Hillcrest Estates.

• Altoona Parks and Recreation: Offers various summer programs for kids such as sports camps, art classes, and nature programs. Location: Various locations in Altoona, within 10-15 minutes from Hillcrest Estates.

Overall, there are plenty of summer activities for all and camps available for kids in Altoona and Eau Claire, with many options located within a short drive from Hillcrest Estates. Prices for camps can vary depending on the program and duration.
